5/2008. The fisheries control and environmental monitoring in the Baltic Sea

The report is about the Danish Directorate of Fisheries’ planning and implementation of the fisheries control in the Baltic Sea and the Ministry of the Environment’s environmental monitoring in the Baltic Sea.

Rigsrevisionen has examined whether the Danish fisheries control is generally planned in a satisfactory manner and whether the Danish fisheries control in the Baltic Sea is implemented in a satisfactory manner. Furthermore, Rigsrevisionen has assessed the quality of the Danish environmental control in the Baltic Sea. The SAIs of the countries bordering the Baltic Sea have conducted a parallel audit of the fisheries control and environmental monitoring in the Baltic Sea, and Rigsrevisionen’s audit findings are included in the parallel audit.

Rigsrevisionen initiated the examination in February 2008 and has coordinated the parallel audit.
