The strategic analysis

The annual audit is a holistic audit planned on the basis of an analysis of respectively the department and the enterprise. The purpose of the analysis is to get insight into the department’s and the enterprises’ situation and to uncover the risk areas.

First of all, Rigsrevisionen carries out a strategic analysis of each ministerial area and department. The strategic analysis of the departments also includes a review of the underlying enterprises and management’s attention level in the enterprises.

Subsequently, a similar strategic analysis is carried out on enterprise level. Before the audit is launched, Rigsrevisionen discusses the strategic analysis with the manegement of the department and the enterprise in order to minimise the risk of overlooking significant areas in the audit.

The strategic analysis is only used for planning purposes. On the basis of the analysis of the department and the enterprise, Rigsrevisionen plans an audit aimed at the risk areas in the enterprise. Hereby, Rigsrevisionen ensures that a necessary and adequate audit is carried out in the significant high-risk areas, which will provide the basis for the issue of an audit opinion of the accounts.
